Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for use of EdTech Resources
Purpose of the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
Technology is an important part of learning today. This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) explains how you should use educational technology (EdTech) safely and responsibly. By following these guidelines, you will learn to be a smart and responsible digital citizen.
EdTech resources include, but are not limited to:

Learning devices (e.g. Personal Learning Devices (PLDs), school laptops or tablets)

ICT system accounts (e.g. Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS), iCON)

School internet networks

Guidelines
1. General
-
I will only access data, systems, and information that I am allowed to.

I will use my learning device and school’s EdTech resources only for learning purposes.
2. Being a Responsible Digital Citizen

I will interact with others respectfully and kindly, both in person and online.
I will not post or share comments that are:

Racially or religiously insensitive,
-
Vulgar or offensive, or
-
Hurtful to others.
I will not use any device to:

Create, store, or share inappropriate content (e.g. indecent, pornographic, or hurtful materials).

Make threats, harass, embarrass, impersonate, or intimidate others.

I will not use MOE or school-deployed ICT system accounts for buying, selling, or any commercial activities.
If I do not follow these rules, I understand that the school may take disciplinary action in line with the school’s discipline policy.
3. Respecting Copyright

I will get permission from the content owner before downloading, copying, or sharing any copyrighted materials (e.g. pictures, videos, music).

I will not use, copy, edit, or share digital files in an unauthorised or illegal way.
4. Using Artificial Intelligence (AI)

I will check that I meet the minimum age requirement before using any AI tool.

If I use AI for my schoolwork, I will acknowledge that I used it, as required by my teacher.

I will be honest and responsible for my own learning when using AI.
5. Staying Safe and Secure Online

I will report any unusual incidents (e.g. strange device behaviour, inappropriate use) to my teacher or the school.

I will not share personal passwords, passcodes, or private information (e.g. home address, phone number) online or on AI platforms.

I will check the reliability of information before sharing it, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and be careful when interacting with people online - especially strangers.

I understand that AI tools may not always give correct or updated answers, and I will use them with care.
6. Digital Wellbeing and Balance

I will balance screen time with other activities like physical exercise and spending time with family and friends.

I will avoid using devices too much outside of learning hours. [According to MOH’s Guidelines: Less than 2 hours of screen use a day, unless related to schoolwork]

I will take regular breaks to rest my eyes and mind.
-
I will stop using devices at least one hour before bedtime to have good sleep.
-
I will not compromise safety when using devices e.g. using a device while crossing the road.
